Doja Cat Releases "Planet Her" - Album Review
Planet Her is finally here!
Over the last year, it would be an understatement to say that Doja has prevailed over all the scrutiny she once received. She has repeatedly proved that she is deserving of her spot in the music industry. With the release of Planet Her, Doja has officially stamped herself as a top force to be reckoned with. Here’s our track by track review of Planet Her:
Woman - This sultry dance tune sets the theme of the album, perfectly. It made me want to call up my imaginary man, for sure.
Naked - I think Naked is a super cute dance song. It makes me want to get up and move.
Get Into It (Yuh) - WHEW! Get into it, yuh! Tbh, this will probably be one of my summer theme songs. It’s just a feel-good song that makes you just wanna dance. Also, LOVE the Nicki shout-out at the end.
Need To Know - I think this song is super cute, but to me, it’s pretty forgettable. I’m not sure why it was chosen as the lead single, but I could probably write a whole think piece on why 9 times out of 10, the lead single is not the best song on the album.
I Don’t Do Drugs (Ariana Grande) - Falling in love is kinda like a drug, huh? Well, in the words of Doja, “More like a sickness that keeps me addicted bad.” I think Doja and Ariana compliment each other’s femininity really well, and I can’t wait to see what these two continue to cook up in the future.
Love To Dream - This is definitely a song more on the slower side, and I’m not gonna lie it’s a little too slow for me. However, when Doja said, “ How much do you want it? Twice a day. Four Times on the holidays.” Okaaaaaay.
You Right - “I got a man but I want you” - the first line on this song already tells me that this will be great LOL. Even if you haven’t cheated on anyone, I think everyone can relate to looking at someone new while in a relationship in some way, especially if said relationship has turned stale.
Been Like This - One of my favesssss!! I love the distortion on her voice in the beginning, and I think it’s the perfect breakup song. “Since you’ve been like this, I don’t really want to be in like this.” That’s a word.
Options (feat. JID) - We got optionsssss, baby! Tbh, this wasn’t one of my favorite songs, but I do like the concept behind the song the most. Being young, lit, and fine and talking to someone as equally on your level will make you feel like this song.
Ain’t Shit - MY ABSOLUTE FAVE. THE MOMENT. THE TRUTH. STRAIGHT FACTS. Because a lot of these men ain’t shit, and I am just so grateful that Doja made this song - I have my summer anthem.
Imagine - I think this song is super cute but kinda forgettable to me. It does what it needs to do, though
Alone - “Is it crazy I’m not scared to be alone?” Felt. This song definitely speaks to that feeling of being so content with being by yourself, you can’t even give thought to being with someone.
Kiss Me More (feat. SZA) - Obviously perf because - SZA.
Overall Flurry Score: 8/10
Here’s to the summer of Planet Her!
