Shameria Wilson’s jewelry line, Sham Glam, offers cute and affordable pieces to add to your jewelry collection. Founded in 2018, Sham Glam has transformed into an exclusive line whose pieces are sure to make any outfit pop! Learn more about how Shameria got her start in cultivating her brand, below:

How did you start Sham Glam?

I was a PR major and instantly knew that my industries were fashion and writing. Wanting to combine the two, I started an accessories line focusing on storytelling and fashion. I started my brand with just engraving pieces and photo pendants and have expanded since then.

How would you describe your brand?

I would describe Sham Glam as an added touch of perfection to showcase my personality, feelings, and my affinity for fashion. Sham Glam is modern and exclusive and makes a statement when you wear it.

What are some challenges that you have faced in cultivating your brand?

In the beginning, I struggled with brand identity. I wanted my brand to represent more than retail prices on jewelry. I wanted Sham Glam to be a mood. At each and every level of growth, I realized that I am my own inspiration. It became easier for me to identify my brand and for others to accept and follow suit.

Who is someone you would love to collaborate with, given the chance?

I would love to collaborate with singer and creative Teyana Taylor, her style is the epitome of exclusive. It would be a dream to do an editorial shoot with her in our pieces or even have her as an ambassador.

What are some of your future plans for Sham Glam?

We are currently working on our spring launch and are excited for you all to see our new arrivals. We also will be showcasing more of our brand management and PR skills this year. There are many tactics that we use to maintain our brand and we are excited to announce that these services will be available to other business owners.

What is some advice that you would have for other black women wanting to start their own business?

The best advice for my brown beauties looking to start their own business is to write goals, self-preparation, and just do it! Self-preparation is most important because you have to train yourself, whether that’s mentally, physically, or financially. The knowledge and habits you attain will determine the success of your business.
